Project Description

Strategic Programme Map: 1. Aim To ascertain the potential of online environments as a tool in engaging audiences in educational/creative practice. 2. Background The central focus of the Open programme is an international creative laboratory taking place across the London borough of Camden on November 5, 6, and 7, which includes live performance, thematic presentations, masterclasses, exhibitions, keynote speeches and workshops. Integral to the programme is the implementation of an online presence, which acts as a communications conduit both to and from the physical event as well as hosting a number of educational and artistic resources. 3. Programme Description The Arts Council of England's Visual Arts Education & Development Open initiative explores the dynamic interfaces between youth culture, the arts & cultural industries, digital technology and education and learning. One of the central themes of the programme is "Open Source" and the wider implications of the open source model for arts practice and education. Open provides a platform for critical debate about young people's artistic and creative practice, developments in new technology and the implications for education and learning. A fundamental aim of the Open programme is to enable connections across a range of constituencies and sectors in order to support young people's creative and educational development in both formal and informal settings. 4. Activities To develop in partnership with programme collaborators and other external organizations and individuals, a delivery framework which reflects the various methods and preferences of access to Internet content. The Open website will use of a variety of digital technologies as research context such as text conferencing, immersive virtual environments, WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) and SMS (Simple Message Service) mobile technology interfaces, web pages, streaming media, e-zines, text chat, MP3 and alternative audio delivery methods.
