Project Description We are exploring the concept of collaborative design using the virtual world as a platform, bringing together the disciplines of architecture and virtual-worlds design. The fundamental approach is to explore how the online world can be seen as an extension of the physical building in the creation of an architecture that encompasses both, as well as how architectural concepts can be used in the development of virtual organizations. We feel that institutions will soon need to establish online, virtual presence as much as a physical ones. The PUSH world will first be used as a test bed to familiarize staff and students with the technology, and to develop some possible typological architectures. Students from SCI-arc will be the first to participate in these experiments. Eventually, the aim would be to introduce the world into a studio situation, possibly in collaboration with students from other schools, for example the Art Center and the Berlage Institute in Amsterdam. | ||
