Project Description

Fairholme College aims to provide a broad-based liberal education for girls that promote academic achievement and excellence. A high proportion of students traditionally go on to tertiary studies. The school aims to foster religious tolerance and awareness that scholarship cannot take place in an ethical or moral vacuum. The school is characterised by its ability to value and integrate tradition and innovation. We value our very strong sense of tradition while striving to embrace the most appropriate methods that derive from current educational research. The school is committed to providing every opportunity with regard to subject-specific technology and information technology. The aim of using the educational universe is to assist students become constructive learners with an enhanced capacity to take responsibility for their own learning. To do this the educational universe will be used to further develop many of the common curriculum elements such as translating from one form to another, recording/noting data, setting out/presenting/arranging/displaying, explaining to others, expounding a viewpoint, empathising, comparing/contrasting, visualising, analysing, etc. It is envisaged that this may be done in a number of ways including: Online tutorials using voicechat Synchronous e-mail, whiteboards etc. Drop in centres where students can meet in the evenings to discuss homework, problems, ideas, check tutorial notes, etc. Language tutorials with sister schools in Japan Building of a virtual laboratory where students can model, conduct and review experiments. Development of rooms containing 3-Dimensional Models of various concepts. Providing an area for students to build models of their ideas.
