Project Description CIRA is the Community Informatics Research and Applications Unit based at the University of Teesside, in Middlesbrough, UK. CIRA promotes community access to ICT resources and provides training and awareness packages for community groups and other organisations, as well as providing ICT advice and support to those organisations and to the voluntary sector. CIRA has a worldwide reputation through it's research activities and conferences. Most of CIRAs activity at the moment is focussed around a project called 'e-create', where community members are encouraged to use technology creatively and artistically. The Educational Universe will be a place for CIRA to develop this 'e-create' project, allowing creative exploration of the possibilities of virtual worlds, for cultural exchange, for more experienced artists to pass on knowledge and inspiration, and a forum to discuss further projects in both real life and cyberspace. | ||
