Project Description The groninger Museum is a highly modern building designed by architects of international reputation. In GrMuseum part of the building will be reconstructed as a virtual learning environment. The project is meant to be an extension of the educational programs of the museum. The starting point of the project is an exhibition of a Dutch expressionist painter called Jan Wiegersl (1893-1959). Inspired by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, he used specific combinations of colors in his paintings. Wiegers worked according to the color-theory which was developed by Goethe in the early 10th century. GrMuseum will be designed as a virtual laboratory where visitors of the world will be able to participate in virtual tests. The goal of our project is to explain Goethe's color theory to the participants and to point out the connection that exists between the theory and the actual paintings made by Wiegers. By exploring the GrMuseum-world, participants will get a special insight into the development of the visual arts in the North of The Netherlands in the beginning of the 20th century. The project will be expanded in collaboration with schools. We are targeting high School students. Activeworlds translated into practice will allow students to collaborate in constructive learning. Students from all over the world will be invited to meet and exchange information in the GrMuseum. They will design and build their own virtual objects and artworks and they will be guided on tours. Our intention is to give our students the opportunity to experience virtual learning and interaction. | ||
