Project Description The research project I am undertaking is part of my MSc in Education & Training System Design at the University of Twente. The project involves the use of the Active Worlds Educational Universe to research the possibilities which 3D worlds present for distance education, and to create two in-world courses designed to share this knowledge and experience with educators. These two complementary courses, aimed at graduate students and professors in the field of Education, will be designed to guide educators as they make the jump from teaching in 2D learning environments to teaching in 3D learning environments. The first course will involve theory and research, the second will be project-based in which the educators focus their attention on building and delivering a specific course of their own. My own extensive experience as an online course designer/trainer in the field of Education at the University level, and as a learner, pursuing my Masters online, provide me with a unique insight into the challenges and opportunities that the educators with whom I currently work, and those I will encounter on the way, and their students will face as they move from their familiar 2D environments to the world of 3D shared virtual spaces | ||
