Project Description There are several reasons why we decided to start a project with Active Worlds: * there are new developments in using the internet in education for instance working with 3 dimensions in a digital learning environment * new ways of learning in a digital learning environment, communicate, finding and producing information, making designs and presentations, construct and interact * in secondary schools the results with Active Worlds were motivating (for instance in our country the Montessori College in the Hague) * writing and presenting self-made texts are important capabilities in school and in a multimedia environment they get new dimensions * teachers become invited to develop an interactive environment Of course there is one important goal we want to achieve: the integration of the use of internet in the lessons in primary schools and working with a new learning environment. And further on we want: * to design and build a 3D world with children of 10-12 years of age * to experience the difficulties and the possibilities of using Active Worlds in primary schools * to teach the teachers to use Active Worlds as a development tool for their courses * to know more about the use of Active Worlds in teaching children to write better texts. At the end: * we want to make handouts for other schools and teachers who want to work with Active Worlds * we will produce handouts for the children to use when they are building in Active Worlds * we want to write an article about the experiences we made by working with Active Worlds * we want to give a presentation to other schools and teachers in a mini conference | ||
