Project Description Within the project one has to work on a task: create a museum which is also interesting for other kids in a building in AW. Tangibly the task for each kid (or group of maximally 2 kids) is to fill a room (hall or chamber) within this building. The subjects will be chosen in consultation with the supervisors. The information will be retrieved from paper information carriers (encyclopedias, informative books and such), encyclopedias on CD ROM, websites on the internet and interviewing experts and scientists (e-mail, telephone). The project will be carried out in a classroom in a school. This room will be furnished mainly as a digital learning environment (Multimedia computer network, internet, scanner, webcam). It iwll also have a fax, telephone and a (paper) documentation centre. The kids' labour must be moulded into a presentation, held preferably in the room in the AW building. The group will be supervised by a teacher (Internal Supervisor), a school supervisor (specialised in the highly intelligent) and a school supervisor / ICT-specialist. The project will last from March 2000 to July 2000. The project will receive regional and maybe national publicity. The purpose of the project is to develop a workshop afterwards in which the results of the project will be passed on. My purpose as ICT-specialist is to give shape to a learning/working environment with modern digital equipment and educative content. In the Dutch primary school computer usage is low due to fairly primitive software (small training programs). Many teachers know relatively little about IT and the possibilities computers provide for their teaching. In coming years a great amount of money will be invested in ICT by the government. This project can show how this money can be invested by schools to meaningfully teach in a modern way. | ||
