World Name: STORY

Project Description

Story will be a multi-level language arts environment focusing on aspects of rhetoric and composition. Central to story is a mystery based on the fairy tale "Little Red Riding Hood" however, unlike the normal tale we have all listened to as children, this will be a deconstruction of the simple tale of obedience and caution. This updated version will allow learners to reflect on the nature and purpose of myths and moral tales. The graphic environment will be comprised of four homes of the main characters of Little Red, the Wolf, the grandmother, and the Woodcutter. In addition to the homes of these characters, is a courthouse, forest, school, and newspaper office. Each of these locales will not only play an integral role in constructing the scenario of mystery, but they will also at times serve as meeting places for projects and activities. The projects/activities are designed to cover a variety of rhetoric and composition skills including argumentation, persuasion, descriptions, summaries, and creative writing. The target learners are freshmen English students and possible advanced 11-12 grade high school composition students in the Columbus/central Ohio area.
